What to bring with you

  • Print your new-patient forms, fill them in at home and bring them along, and check-in goes faster. If you'd rather, fill them in when you arrive. We'll have copies ready.
  • Write down every medicine you've taken in the past month, prescription and over-the-counter, and bring the list.
  • If you have dental insurance, bring your insurance details. The registration form asks for your plan's group and ID numbers.
  • If your dentist gave you our referral card, bring that too.
  • If you have a question or a special need, call us before your visit and we'll help.

Step by step, from check-in to your own dentist

  1. We start with your history and x-rays

You fill in your paperwork, including your medical history and consent forms, or hand us the ones you completed at home. An assistant notes what brought you in, who referred you and the history of the tooth, then takes x-rays.

  2. Dr. Brasseale examines the tooth

He reviews your paperwork, asks about your symptoms and tests the tooth that is bothering you, along with the teeth beside it.

  3. You get a clear diagnosis and your options

He explains your diagnosis, the treatment he recommends and the outlook for the tooth. You hear your options, with the benefits and risks of each, so you understand how treatment can save your tooth.

  4. If you choose, treatment can start right away

If you decide to go ahead, treatment may begin during the same visit. A local anesthetic numbs the area first, so you're comfortable during treatment, and Dr. Brasseale treats every tooth under a surgical operating microscope. If the work can't be finished in one visit, we place medicine inside the tooth between appointments.

  5. We check the tooth and update your dentist

Once treatment is complete, we take more x-rays to track how the tooth heals, and we send your dentist a report of the visit.

  6. Your own dentist finishes the tooth

You go home with written instructions for caring for the tooth, and we make you an appointment at your general dentist's office to have it filled or crowned.

Your dentist stays part of your care

Our team coordinates your care with your general dentist. After treatment, we send your dentist a report of the visit. Before you leave, we make you an appointment at their office for the filling or crown.

That filling or crown matters, because it protects the treated tooth for the long term. Until your dentist places it, don't chew or bite on that tooth.

Answers before you arrive

What should I bring to my first visit?

Bring your new-patient forms if you filled them in at home, a list of every medicine you've taken in the past month, prescription and over-the-counter, and your dental insurance details if you have insurance.

Can treatment start at my first visit?

Yes, it can. Once Dr. Brasseale has explained your diagnosis and options, and you decide to go ahead, treatment may start the same day. A local anesthetic keeps you comfortable.

Will I need more than one visit?

Sometimes. If treatment can't be finished in one visit, we place medicine inside the tooth between appointments.

Who restores my tooth afterward?

Your own general dentist. Before you leave, we make you an appointment at their office for the filling or crown, and we send them a report of your visit.

Do you accept my dental insurance?

We accept all dental insurance plans, and we file your claim for you. For payment, we accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and CareCredit.
